Fire Proof: Chef Curtis Duffy

There are certain moments when you realize all the hard work has paid off. This was certainly one of them. I had the honor of photographing world-renowned Chef Curtis Duffy for his bestselling memoir, Fireproof.

For this project, I wanted to create a dark, dramatic visual style that revealed Curtis while also maintaining an element of mystery. The use of deep shadows and controlled lighting helped create a portrait that felt both powerful and intimate.

We had an incredible team working together to bring the vision to life, all within a tight timeline before the book went to press.

Special thanks Chef Curtis Duffy and his team, MXML Creative for producing the project, and to Jen Brown Makeup for offering up her MUA skills.

Fireproof is available everywhere books are sold!

AUROUS

When I get a free moment in my schedule, my favorite thing to do is link up with other creatives around me who want to experiment and try out some new ideas. The talented MUA, Jen Brown came up with the theme and the rest of the team rolled along and put in our own creative spin. Check out AUROUS below.

Majestic Disorder

A couple years back I was heading out for one of my routine Ethiopian adventures when I was contacted by Kelley Mullarkey, Publisher + Editor-in-Chief of Majestic Disorder Magazine. She asked if I would be willing to contribute a story from Ethiopia to the magazine. I went to my local bookstore and picked up a copy and was immediately hooked. I fell in love with the visuals and the story telling. The eclectic choice of subjects and stories was a breath of fresh air. I knew right away that I wanted to be involved.

Majestic Disorder began its publication a little over two years ago by husband and wife, Sean Stillmaker and Kelley Mullarkey. Based in the UK, Majestic Disorder is committed to journalism focusing on cultural topics, art, film, travel, sustainable fashion, public affairs and feature stories with creative artisans across all mediums. MD is sold in over 30 countries in select niche boutiques, museums, hotels and newsstands such as Tate Modern, MoMA PS1, The Photographers Gallery, Barnes & Noble, Selfridges, Alchemy Works and more.

As we approach the end of August, it's not uncommon to hear the Midwest grumbling over the fact that Fall is quickly approaching and that means Winter is not to far off. Well, that's for another time and day. Until then, We're going to enjoy the sunshine and warmth.
